Role Summary

The Sales Representative is responsible for acquiring and retaining B2B accounts by selling Forestwood’s portfolio of fresh produce and complementary categories (dairy and eggs). The role manages a territory, builds multi-stakeholder relationships, and collaborates with operations, purchasing, and customer service to deliver on quality, pricing, and on-time delivery commitments.

Key Responsibilities

·        New business development: Identify, prospect, and close new foodservice and institutional accounts within the assigned territory.

·        Account management: Own a book of business; conduct regular in-person visits; build relationships with owner/operators, chefs, foodservice directors, and procurement.

·        Product expertise: Advise on seasonality, specifications, handling, and substitutions across fresh produce; cross-sell dairy and eggs to increase basket size.

·        Pricing & margin: Prepare quotes, negotiate programs, and manage gross margin targets in collaboration with purchasing and leadership.

·        Forecasting & pipeline: Maintain an accurate pipeline and weekly forecasts; use CRM tools to track activities, quotes, and conversion.

·        Service coordination: Partner with routing, warehouse, and customer service to meet delivery windows, resolve shorts/credits, and ensure excellent service.

·        Food safety stewardship: Reinforce customer confidence by aligning with company food-safety standards and recall/traceability processes.

·        Market intelligence: Monitor competitor activity, commodity markets, and customer trends to inform pricing and assortment.

·        Collections support: Coordinate with A/R to address credit applications and past-due issues in line with company practices.

·        Community & brand: Represent Forestwood at chef events, school nutrition meetings, trade shows, and community activities.

Required Qualifications

·        2+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally in foodservice distribution (produce, dairy, perishables) or hospitality procurement.

·        Documented success building a territory, meeting revenue/margin goals, and upselling a broad catalog.

·        Consultative selling skills; ability to translate customer menus/specs into reliable supply plans.

·        Proficiency with CRM and basic analytics (pricing, margin, mix).

·        Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.

·        Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor-vehicle record; ability to travel regionally to customer sites.

·        Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications

·        Experience selling to restaurants, schools, healthcare, or military dining programs.

·        Knowledge of produce seasonality/specs, cold-chain handling, and basic food-safety practices.

·        Existing relationships within the territory.

Physical & Schedule Requirements

·        Frequent local/regional driving and customer site visits; occasional early-morning calls aligned to foodservice delivery schedules.

·        Ability to lift up to ~30 lbs. occasionally (product samples, point-of-sale materials).

·        Work performed in customer kitchens, storerooms, and occasionally refrigerated warehouse areas.

Compensation & Benefits

·        Competitive base salary plus commission/bonus opportunity commensurate with experience, territory, and performance.
