POSITION OVERVIEW:


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Microsoft SQL Server DBA administration and troubleshooting along Microsoft Azure and any CI/CD and automation is most relevant to manage, optimize and automate SQL Server environments for a client (a leading US based P & C insurer). You’ll ensure database integrity, performance and security—while leveraging Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and scripting to support global development, test and production environments. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Administer and automate SQL Server instances (installation, configuration, upgrades, performance tuning, backup & restore).
  • Automate repeatable tasks via Azure DevOps Pipelines (e.g. build/release, backups, restores, environment refreshes).
  • Maintain performance and system integrity; optimize queries and server configurations.
  • Enforce database security and access controls; manage permissions via self-service group structures.
  • Define, enforce and document database standards and architectures.
  • Review software changes for compliance with standards.
  • Create and keep up-to-date architectural documentation and system design.
  • Support global environments (development, test, production) and provide on-call troubleshooting as needed.
  • Recommend and implement new database technologies, tools and best practices.
  • Build reports, dashboards and visualizations using SQL Server reporting tools.
  • Where applicable, step up to mentor colleagues and promote a continuous learning culture within the team


PREFERRED PROFILE:


  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration including backups, restores, performance tuning, SSRS/SSIS/SSAS and scripting (PowerShell, Bash).
  • Experience with Azure DevOps Pipelines and CI/CD processes for database automation and deployment.
  • Familiarity with both Windows/Linux server environments.
  • Exposure to cloud environments (Microsoft Azure; exposure to AWS is a plus).
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and working with large, complex data sets.


Technical Skills & Tools needed:

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server (2012–2019+)
  • Experience with SSRS, SSIS, SSAS
  • Experience with Scripting: PowerShell, Bash
  • Azure DevOps, Azure SQL/VM
  • Performance monitoring tools (DMVs, Profiler)
  • CI/CD deployment tools (DACPACs, SQL Server database projects)
  • Basic Linux and Windows server administration
