The firm is experienced in the areas of foreclosure, creditor litigation, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, title curative issues, and general housing-related issues such as foreclosure liens, redemption, homeowner association matters, mobile home curative, and compliance issues.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Sr Associate attorney. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of foreclosure law, litigation skills and the ability to conduct thorough legal research. The attorney will be responsible for representing clients in legal proceedings throughout the state of New York, while providing expert legal advice and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Handle a high-level caseload of residential, consumer, and commercial foreclosure matters and litigation from referral through resolution.
• Draft and argue substantive motions, attend court conferences, conduct legal research and prepare pleadings.
• Conduct and supervise legal research, drafting and case strategy.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case progress and strategy.
• Mentor junior associates, providing direction, feedback, and quality control.
• Ensure compliance with all federal and state foreclosure requirements, including NY-specific procedural rules.
• Collaborating with the firm’s other attorneys, paralegals and support staff to move files efficiently.
• Maintain accurate, timely billing and documentation.
• Traveling to and from various courts as needed.

PREFERRED PROFILE:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Admitted to practice law and in good standing in New York State courts required.
• A minimum of 5-10 years of experience handling foreclosure matters is preferred.
• Courtroom experience preferred.
• High attention to detail
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to handle a caseload with minimal supervision.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong knowledge of NY foreclosure statues, procedures and litigation practice preferred
