Senior Sales Engineer
Apply for this job

COMPANY OVERVIEW:

Our client's modern privileged identity management system eliminates standing access to critical systems, granting and revoking contextual access in real time, drastically reducing the blast radius of a possible breach. Regardless of how an identity breach infiltrates your workforce, the company brings in context-based intelligence and prevents them from freely navigating cloud applications like Azure, AWS, GitHub, and Salesforce, as well as on-prem systems.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Senior Sales Engineer is a critical function within our client's Sales Team. In this position, you'll work closely with our account managers and play a key role in winning deals and driving the business forward. You'll be a trusted technical advisor to a wide range of customers primarily concentrated within the Fortune 1000. The role requires excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills and previous experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM) architectures. You will help prospective customers and partners understand the benefits the company can offer, explain technical features, and solve any potential roadblocks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partner with Account Executives to shape deal strategy, align on account plans, and jointly manage the technical side of complex enterprise/strategic sales cycles
  • Act as the technical quarterback for opportunities — leveraging team resources effectively to coordinate internal and external experts, drive proof-of-concept execution, and ensure timely resolution of technical blockers
  • Deliver tailored demos, architecture diagrams, and workshops that align IAM capabilities with customer business and security objectives
  • Own the technical relationship with customers, building trust across executives, architects, and technical staff
  • Provide hands-on support for integrations, including debugging and guiding prospects through structured problem-solving during evaluations
  • Recommend best practices for IAM architecture, infrastructure configuration, and deployment to ensure the successful adoption of the company's solutions
  • Ensure smooth handoff to customer success and implementation teams by documenting and communicating technical decisions and PoC learnings

PREFERRED PROFILE:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Sales Engineer (or related technical pre-sales role) in the Identity and Access Management (IAM) space — or direct experience working with enterprise IAM programs
  • Proven experience managing complex enterprise/strategic sales cycles end-to-end, including discovery, workshops, architecture design, demos, and proof-of-concept delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to “quarterback” technical workstreams — leveraging team resources effectively to coordinate internal and external experts, drive PoC execution, and ensure timely resolution of technical blockers
  • Strong understanding of IAM principles, enterprise IT architectures, and system security measures, with broad knowledge of systems, networking, and web platforms
  • Hands-on expertise with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern integration approaches (APIs, API management, microservices, and containerization)
  • Proficiency with modern programming/scripting languages (Python, Go, Java, C#, etc.), with the ability to debug and support integrations in a structured, customer-facing manner
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with Account Executives, contributing technical insight and feedback to shape deal strategy
  • Comfort presenting and delivering technical content to executives, architects, and technical staff, with the ability to translate technical capabilities into business impact
  • Strong grasp of systems design tradeoffs (scalability, reliability, availability) in the context of enterprise IAM solutions
  • Proven ability to mentor and enable peers in technical selling
  • Experience working in startups or fast-paced, ambiguous environments where adaptability and bias for action are key
