General Manager

Work arrangement: Full-time, in person

Schedule: Monday–Friday, with weekends as needed

Compensation: Competitive base salary plus commission

The opportunity

We’re partnering with a strength training business to find a General Manager who wants to lead a studio and the people who make it work. You’ll coach a team of Exercise Physiologists, build lasting relationships with clients, and take ownership of the studio’s growth and day-to-day experience.

This is a hands-on role. You’ll spend around 15–25 hours each week working directly with clients, while developing your team and helping them deliver consistently excellent workouts. If you enjoy seeing other people grow as much as you enjoy coaching clients yourself, there’s real room to make this studio your own.

What you’ll do

  • Hire, onboard, coach, and develop Exercise Physiologists, giving them clear expectations and the support to do their best work.
  • Lead from the studio floor, delivering strength training sessions and setting a high standard for client care.
  • Build a welcoming, consistent experience that gives clients confidence in their training and a reason to keep coming back.
  • Grow the business by following up with prospective clients, putting local marketing ideas into action, and building relationships in the community.
  • Manage studio performance, team schedules, and the everyday decisions that keep the business running well.
  • Keep the space and equipment ready for clients, coordinating repairs and addressing facility issues when they arise.

What success looks like

Your team feels supported, accountable, and proud of the workouts it delivers. Clients receive attentive coaching, the studio earns their trust, and new relationships help the business grow. You’re present in the work while making time to develop the people around you.

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s degree and at least five years of professional experience. A degree related to exercise science is preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership in personal training or strength and conditioning, with a desire to hire, coach, and retain a strong team.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills, and the judgment to handle the varied demands of running a studio.
  • The willingness to spend around 15–25 hours a week working with clients and to work in person, primarily Monday–Friday, with weekends as needed.
  • Ideally, at least three years of management experience, experience in a fitness or exercise setting, and experience calling leads or executing local marketing.

Why this role

You’ll have the opportunity to run a studio, develop a team, and stay close to the client work you enjoy. The package includes a competitive base salary plus commission, profit sharing, paid time off, free personal training, and access to professional development programs.
