Position Overview

The Sous Chef plays a critical leadership role in the kitchen, partnering closely with the Head Chef to execute daily operations, maintain exceptional food quality, and develop a high-performing culinary team. This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef in overseeing all day-to-day kitchen operations
  • Lead, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to drive performance and accountability
  • Ensure consistency in food preparation, taste, and presentation standards
  • Maintain strict adherence to food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness protocols
  • Manage inventory, ordering, and proper food storage procedures
  • Monitor food costs, portion control, and waste reduction initiatives
  • Collaborate on menu development, recipe execution, and plating presentation
  • Assume full kitchen leadership in the absence of the Head Chef


Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional kitchen experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership or Sous Chef role
  • Culinary degree or relevant certification preferred
  • Strong understanding of kitchen systems, food costing, and safety standards
  • Proven leadership and team development skills
  • Ability to perform effectively under pressure in a high-volume setting
  • Passion for culinary excellence, creativity, and teamwork
