Buyer – Gourmet Grocery Market
The Buyer leads all buying functions for our gourmet market - sourcing the highest quality products at the best possible value. This role oversees vendor relationships, inventory control, and the bid and procurement process.
What You'll Do
- Source and purchase all food and non-food items, securing competitive pricing without compromising quality
- Manage relationships with local, regional, and specialty vendors - keeping supplier information and contracts current
- Oversee the full purchase order process, from requisition through delivery and reconciliation
- Monitor the quality and accuracy of all received products
- Coordinate delivery schedules to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize waste
- Maintain accurate stock records and manage storeroom operations
- Partner with Finance on budgeting, month-end reporting, and cost controls
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a gourmet grocery, specialty food, or upscale retail environment
- Strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills
- Knowledge of food quality standards, perishables, and specialty products
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Team-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in inventory and ordering software
