Position Title: Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) / Behavioral Health Counselor (BHC)

Location: Phoenix, AZ

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Setting: Residential Behavioral Health Program – Adolescents

Travel Requirement: None (Primary site-based role)

Compensation: $20 – $25 per hour, based on experience

Position Overview

The Behavioral Health Technician / Behavioral Health Counselor provides direct supervision, therapeutic support, and daily structure to adolescent residents. This role focuses on safety, behavior monitoring, routine reinforcement, and maintaining a recovery-oriented residential milieu.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and support to adolescent residents throughout daily routines
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic residential environment
  • Observe, document, and report client behaviors, incidents, and progress accurately
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living including hygiene, meals, and room upkeep
  • Support emotional regulation, coping skills, and positive peer interactions
  • Conduct drug screenings in accordance with program protocols
  • Participate in therapeutic, educational, and recreational programming
  • Monitor resident movement, attendance, and transitions within the facility
  • Collaborate with clinical, nursing, and leadership teams to support treatment goals
  • Uphold confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety standards within the residence
  • Participate in team meetings, trainings, and required documentation
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support client care and program operations


Qualifications & Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months of experience in behavioral health (1–2 years preferred)
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Experience working with adolescents or in residential or care-based settings preferred
  • Strong communication, documentation, and teamwork skills
  • Must pass required background checks
  • Possess or be eligible for a Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
