The Family Pastor will provide leadership and oversight to the Kids Ministry and hands-on leadership of the Youth Ministry to provide a seamless experience for kids and students as they grow and develop in their faith. Position Overview: The Family Pastor will provide leadership and support to the Kids Ministry and direct leadership to the Youth Ministry. The Family Pastor will spend approximately 75% of their time in Youth Ministry and 25% of time in Kids Ministry to provide a seamless ministry experience for all kids, students, and families. They will create a mission/vision/strategy that aligns with the overall mission/vision/strategy of the church, and will recruit and lead a team of leaders to execute an effective, sustainable Family Ministry. The Family Pastor will spearhead a strategy to grow the ministry, and reach kids/students/families that are far from Jesus within the community. The Family Pastor will also be responsible for building and managing a budget, recruiting and training volunteers, implementing and executing a strategy for equipping parents, leading special events for kids, students, and families, and ensuring kids and students are able to engage Jesus at their age level. The Family Pastor will report directly to the Lead Pastor.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Follow Jesus personally, developing a deep relationship with him that becomes the foundation by which ministry is developed and executed.
  • Act as a champion for kids and students inside and outside the church, and throughout the community; ensuring they are represented well and their unique needs are considered in the life of the church.
  • Develop, communicate, and reinforce a mission, vision, and strategy that is effective in ministering to kids, students, and families, and is aligned with the overall mission, vision, and strategy of the church.
  • Lead a team of volunteer leaders to develop and execute a Family Ministry that includes consistent programming/ministry and events for kids, students, and parents.
  • Recruit and train volunteer leaders to allow the ministry to reach and disciple more and more kids, students, and parents.
  • Develop and execute a strategy to ensure the ministry partners effectively with parents, and equips them to disciple their kids and students. 
  • Implement and uphold systems, processes, and policies that will allow the ministry to run effectively, ensure safety, and grow.
  • Execute a communication plan that will keep parents, kids/students, volunteers, and the church at-large well informed on the ministry, programming, and events.
  • Steward a Family Ministry budget that supports and reflects the mission/vision/strategy of the ministry.
  • Partner with other stakeholders within the church to ensure the church continues to engage and reflect the growing diversity in the community.
  • Preach and/or teach, as needed or assigned by the Lead Pastor, for the congregation or smaller groups.
  • Willingly assist the Englewood Christian Church leadership with other ministry projects, as needed, to ensure a cohesive ministry to the entire congregation and community.

Job Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a Christian University/Bible College, or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of vocational Youth/Kids/Family experience
  • Proven ability to create and implement a mission/vision/strategy to effectively minister to kids/students/parents
  • Proven ability to lead a team of volunteers, disciple kids/students/parents, and organize programs and events
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences: kids, students, volunteers, and parents
  • Demonstrated relationship with Jesus; displaying a life of faith in Jesus, professional maturity, high character, and exhibits the Fruit of the Spirit
