VP, Engineering

Our client is a clean energy innovator building software that manages distributed energy resources—smart thermostats, EVs, solar, storage, and more—to balance the grid, reduce fossil fuel use, and accelerate the transition to sustainable power.

We’re seeking a Vice President of Engineering to scale our global engineering organization and lead the technology strategy through a period of rapid growth, M&A integrations, and collaboration with private equity partners.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a global engineering team of 150+ across North America and India.
• Partner with Product to deliver scalable, data-driven, cloud-native SaaS solutions.
• Drive M&A technical due diligence and post-acquisition integration, ensuring seamless alignment of systems, processes, and culture.
• Work closely with private equity stakeholders to align technology initiatives with portfolio growth strategies and value creation plans.
• Oversee platform modernization, AWS/GCP migration, and adoption of AI/ML capabilities.
• Define and track engineering OKRs and KPIs (including DORA metrics) to ensure delivery excellence.
• Champion modern DevOps, CI/CD, and infrastructure reliability practices.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering leadership in SaaS, with 5+ years leading leaders.
• Proven track record scaling engineering organizations in growth-stage or PE-backed companies.
• Direct experience with M&A events, including technical due diligence and integration.
• Experience collaborating with private equity firms on technology strategy and execution.
• Expertise in cloud-native architectures, data platforms (Databricks, MLOps, Lakehouse), and hybrid cloud migrations.
• Strong executive communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
• Passion for climate tech and the role of software in decarbonizing the grid.
