Role: Controller (Head of Accounting)

Location: Phoenix, AZ | 100% Onsite

Compensation: $160,000–$210,000 Base + Bonus Opportunity

The Kostelic Agency is partnering with an established, profitable, family-owned manufacturing business seeking a hands-on Controller to lead its accounting function and help shape its next phase of growth.

This opportunity combines ownership of daily accounting with the ability to improve how the business operates. You’ll partner & report directly with the CEO, maintain an efficient close process, and build on an accounting foundation that has already benefited from significant automation and process improvement.

For an accounting leader who enjoys staying close to the work—and finding smarter ways to get it done—this role offers meaningful influence across the function.

Where You’ll Add Value

• Own daily accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and a four-business-day monthly close.
• Manage customer invoicing and accounts receivable, ensuring accurate treatment of taxes, shipping-related charges, and other billing components.
• Oversee accounts payable and purchasing workflows with support from an existing team member.
• Handle payment runs, payroll processing, and periodic insurance and benefits administration.
• Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to strengthen reporting, streamline workflows, and improve visibility into financial performance.
• Bring sound accounting judgment to job costing, inventory, and work-in-process activity.
• Support practical budgeting, forecasting, and operational reporting.
• Identify opportunities to reduce manual work through automation and thoughtful use of AI-enabled tools.

The Build

We’re looking for an accounting professional who brings:

• Experience independently owning an accounting function, including close, reporting, and day-to-day execution.
• A hands-on approach and comfort working within a lean team.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly in billing, reconciliations, and financial controls.
• Prior Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience strongly preferred; Dynamics NAV experience is also valuable.
• Manufacturing or construction accounting experience, especially with job costing, inventory, and WIP, preferred.
• Curiosity about technology and a willingness to improve established processes.
• The ability to communicate effectively with an owner and translate accounting information into useful business insights.
• Business Central administration, report customization, implementation involvement, or light development experience would be a plus.
