Director of HRIS & Shared Services
Position Overview
The Director of HRIS & Shared Services will lead the organization’s HR technology, systems, data, and shared services functions. This individual will be responsible for optimizing HR processes, improving the employee experience, ensuring data integrity, and driving operational efficiency across the HR organization.
The Director will serve as a strategic partner to HR leadership and key business stakeholders while overseeing HRIS strategy, system enhancements, reporting and analytics, HR operations, and employee support services.
Key Responsibilities
HRIS & HR Technology
- Lead the strategy, administration, optimization, and ongoing development of the organization’s HRIS and related HR technology platforms.
- Partner with HR, IT, Finance, Payroll, and business leaders to identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, reporting, and automation.
- Oversee system implementations, upgrades, integrations, testing, and enhancements.
- Ensure HR systems are configured to support organizational growth, evolving business requirements, and HR programs.
- Manage system integrations between HRIS, payroll, benefits, recruiting, performance management, learning, and other platforms.
- Maintain strong HR data governance, security, accuracy, and integrity.
- Develop and enhance HR dashboards, workforce analytics, and reporting capabilities to support business decision-making.
- Manage relationships with HR technology vendors and external partners.
HR Shared Services & Operations
- Lead the HR Shared Services function, creating a consistent and high-quality employee experience across HR processes and services.
- Oversee employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, employee changes, transfers, promotions, terminations, and related HR transactions.
- Establish service-level expectations, workflows, escalation procedures, and performance metrics for HR Shared Services.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate manual HR processes.
- Develop standardized processes, documentation, policies, and procedures across HR operations.
- Partner closely with HR Business Partners, Talent Acquisition, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, and other HR Centers of Excellence.
- Ensure employee inquiries and HR transactions are handled accurately, efficiently, and within established service levels.
- Monitor operational metrics and continuously improve the effectiveness of the Shared Services function.
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, develop, and mentor HRIS and Shared Services team members.
- Create a roadmap for HR technology and operational improvements aligned with broader HR and business objectives.
- Lead cross-functional HR transformation and process improvement initiatives.
- Establish KPIs and reporting to measure HR operational effectiveness, service delivery, system adoption, and employee experience.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted advisor to senior HR leadership on HR technology and operational strategy.
- Support organizational growth, acquisitions, integrations, and other business initiatives as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience across HRIS, HR Operations, Shared Services, or related HR functions.
- 5+ years of leadership or people-management experience preferred.
- Strong experience managing and optimizing enterprise HRIS platforms such as Workday, UKG, ADP, Oracle HCM, SAP SuccessFactors, or similar systems.
- Experience leading HR technology implementations, integrations, upgrades, and process improvement initiatives.
- Strong understanding of HR data, reporting, analytics, and data governance.
- Experience building or managing an HR Shared Services or centralized HR Operations function.
- Strong project management and change management capabilities.
- Ability to partner effectively across HR, IT, Finance, Payroll, and senior leadership.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to improve processes, leverage technology, and create scalable HR operations within a growing organization.
Preferred Experience
- Experience supporting a complex, multi-location, or global organization.
- Experience with HR transformation or Shared Services implementation.
- Experience integrating multiple HR technology platforms.
- Exposure to mergers, acquisitions, organizational integrations, or significant company growth.
- Experience developing HR analytics, dashboards, and workforce reporting.
$225,000 - $275,000 base plus bonus plus equity
