Accounting Manager
We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join a growing organization in Northern New Jersey. This is a hands-on position for an accounting professional who is comfortable managing day-to-day accounting activities while supporting broader financial reporting and operational needs.
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for a range of accounting functions, with a particular focus on billing, accounts receivable, collections, accounts payable, and month-end close. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Prepare and issue customer invoices accurately and on schedule.
- Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Manage collection efforts and work to resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
- Assist with month-end close, including account reconciliations and journal entries.
- Prepare and review internal financial reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Support annual audits and respond to requests for financial documentation.
- Partner with internal teams to ensure accurate billing, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
- Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and process issues.
- Maintain compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Prior accounting experience with responsibility for multiple areas of the accounting function.
- Hands-on experience with billing, accounts receivable, and collections.
- Experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous public accounting experience.
- CPA or progress toward CPA certification.
- Experience working in a project-based or contract-driven accounting environment.
