Position Overview:


The Senior Accountant will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This individual will be responsible for overseeing various accounting functions, conducting financial analysis, and providing strategic insights to support informed decision-making. The Senior Accountant will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and senior management to drive operational efficiency and adherence to regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
  2. General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger system, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing processes.
  3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts, providing recommendations to enhance financial performance and mitigate risks.
  4. Financial Analysis: Conduct variance analysis, trend analysis, and ad-hoc financial modeling to identify areas of improvement and support strategic decision-making.
  5. Internal Controls: Implement and monitor internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  6. Audit Support: Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits, providing documentation and support to facilitate the audit process.
  7. Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations, including corporate income tax, sales tax, and other applicable taxes.
  8. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, enhance efficiency, and improve financial reporting accuracy.
  9. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with various departments, including finance, operations, and risk management, to support business initiatives and address financial implications.
  10. Team Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting roles, preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Thorough understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Microsoft Excel, and financial modeling tools.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
