Position Overview:
The Accounting Manager role is responsible for leading a team that manages complex financial arrangements, oversees accounts receivable activities, and ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, ASC 808, and internal control standards. The position requires strong technical accounting expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to drive accuracy and efficiency within accounting operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly and quarterly accounting close process for assigned areas of responsibility, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Interpret and manage complex financial agreements, validate calculations for revenue recognition, and ensure accuracy of related accounts receivable.
- Take ownership of accounting responsibilities for designated financial arrangements, including calculation of revenue and cost-sharing expenses, while ensuring compliance with agreement terms.
- Ensure the accuracy of accruals for various license and cost-sharing agreements.
- Oversee the completeness and accuracy of accounts receivable reconciliations and prepare documentation for potential audits.
- Apply a strong understanding of technical accounting standards, particularly revenue recognition under ASC 606 and ASC 808 for collaborative and joint arrangements.
- Review journal entries, supporting schedules, account analyses, reconciliations, and variance explanations.
- Perform quarterly reconciliations of accounts receivable with Finance and review periodic invoices.
- Facilitate quarterly and annual audit requests, including participation in SOX walkthroughs.
- Prepare, update, and maintain SOX narratives, internal controls, and accounting policies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to align on financial objectives and ensure consistency across reporting and accounting processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency within accounting workflows.
- Serve as a liaison for financial information exchange across management levels and functional areas.
- Mentor and develop team members to enhance performance, technical capability, and professional growth.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects and support organizational initiatives as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- CPA certification or active CPA track preferred.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive professional accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, ASC 606, and ASC 808.
- Proven leadership, organizational, and project management abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and compliance.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
- Advanced proficiency with spreadsheet and data analysis tools.
- Demonstrated ability to think independently, identify issues, and develop practical solutions.
Salary Range: $120k - $140k
