Position Overview:
The Accounting Systems Manager plays a key role in advancing technology-driven improvements within the organization’s accounting function. This role serves as a bridge between operational accounting teams and technical partners, helping translate business needs into system enhancements, optimized processes, and scalable solutions. You will lead efforts to design, refine, and support accounting systems while driving innovation, automation, and strong data integrity across financial platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team responsible for converting business requirements into technical specifications, functional prototypes, and complete systems solutions.
- Partner with accounting leadership to establish priorities, allocate resources, and support short-term planning on a weekly and monthly basis.
- Collaborate with process owners to analyze existing workflows, identify automation opportunities, and assess suitability for technology-driven improvements.
- Develop clear and comprehensive documentation such as functional design specifications, use cases, and workflow diagrams to support system enhancements.
- Work directly with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, evaluate business processes, and design solutions within enterprise performance management tools, including metadata structures, data forms, workflows, and calculation logic.
- Oversee the creation and execution of test plans, including test cases and scenarios, across key financial systems such as enterprise planning tools and ERP platforms.
- Establish and maintain data validation and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and reliability in financial planning and reporting environments.
- Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in planning, consolidation, and financial systems. Maintain ongoing professional development through training and certifications.
- Troubleshoot system-related issues, particularly those affecting data integrity and monthly close processes.
- Manage end-to-end testing cycles to ensure readiness and quality for system updates, projects, and other initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 6 to 10+ years of experience in an accounting or finance environment, supporting or working closely with technology solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a demonstrated ability to evaluate processes and identify efficiency opportunities across finance functions.
- Proven experience adopting and implementing new technologies in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.
- Ability to manage multiple initiatives, balance shifting priorities, and lead teams with energy and initiative.
- Familiarity with SOX technology controls and software development methodologies (both waterfall and agile) is desirable.
- Working knowledge of enterprise planning or consolidation tools, especially cloud-based platforms, is a significant plus.
Salary Range: $125k - $135k
