Position Overview:

A growing, privately held food & beverage manufacturing company is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting operations and manage a small administrative office. This position oversees a team of four accounting professionals, including roles in general accounting, accounts receivable, and accounts payable. The Controller will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and will be developed to assume the CFO role upon their planned retirement. This is a hands-on position and an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Controller ready to take the next step in their career.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all accounting and financial functions, including monthly close, financial analysis, and cash flow management.
  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Manage inventory valuation, costing, and cost of goods sold (COGS) accounting processes.
  • Support and improve ERP and financial reporting systems, as well as Microsoft Office applications.
  • Handle customer credit reviews, bank relationships, payroll, 401(k) administration and compliance, and company insurance programs.
  • Oversee PCI compliance and coordinate with external IT vendors to maintain network security.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to support supply chain operations and manage chargebacks.
  • Participate in strategic planning and financial forecasting to support company growth.


Qualifications:

  • 10-12 years of progressive experience in finance or accounting within a privately held or family-owned organization.
  • MBA in Finance or Accounting required.
  • Experience in both for-profit and non-profit environments preferred.
  • Strong understanding of inventory costing, cost of goods sold (COGS), and valuation.
  • Proficiency with ERP and financial reporting systems, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with tax reporting and compliance is a plus.
  • Prior exposure to supply chain and chargeback processes is highly desirable.
  • Ability to thrive in a hands-on leadership role within a small to mid-sized food & beverage manufacturing business environment.


Salary Range: $140k - $180k
