Position Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Manager of Cost Accounting to lead and enhance the organization’s cost accounting and operational finance functions. This role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and transparency of product costing, inventory valuation, and operational financial reporting.

The Senior Manager will serve as a strategic business partner to operations and executive leadership, providing meaningful financial insights that drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement. This individual will combine strong technical expertise with a hands-on approach to process optimization, cost control, and financial analysis in a dynamic operating environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee cost accounting processes, including product costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of cost data within financial and operational systems.
  • Lead month-end close activities related to cost of goods sold, inventory, and operational reporting.
  • Analyze manufacturing or operational variances and partner with cross-functional leaders to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Develop and present financial dashboards, metrics, and management reporting to support executive decision-making.
  • Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and finance teams to improve cost visibility and drive margin optimization initiatives.
  • Monitor capital expenditures and operational investments, evaluating financial impact and return on investment.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by providing detailed cost projections and operational insights.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, enhance internal controls, and implement automation within cost accounting functions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at increasing operational efficiency and reducing costs.
  • Research and resolve complex accounting matters to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance.
  • Mentor and develop team members within the cost accounting function.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
  • Several years of progressive experience in cost accounting or operational finance within a manufacturing or product-driven environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting principles, inventory accounting, and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience working with ERP systems and advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze large data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Proven track record of process improvement and operational collaboration.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
