Position Overview:

The Senior Manager of Accounting provides leadership over complex accounting operations, financial reporting, and reconciliation activities within designated functional areas. This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of general ledger activity, overseeing close processes, maintaining compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations, and partnering cross-functionally to support accurate financial reporting. A key focus of the position is leading and driving accounting system implementations, process redesign, and broader finance transformation initiatives to improve efficiency, controls, and reporting capabilities. Due to the sensitive nature of financial information managed within this function, the role requires discretion, sound judgment, and the highest standards of professionalism.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion and lead accounting system implementations, workflow redesign efforts, and finance transformation projects to strengthen internal controls and improve operational effectiveness.
  • Develop, enhance, and formalize accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency, compliance, and operational clarity.
  • Support internal and external audit activities by preparing and reviewing workpapers and responding to audit inquiries during interim and year-end reviews.
  • Direct the recording, review, and reconciliation of payroll-related journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accurate reflection within the general ledger.
  • Perform detailed analysis of payroll-related balance sheet accounts, identify variances, and document conclusions to support financial reporting.
  • Supervise payroll-related cash and bank reconciliations to confirm completeness and accuracy.
  • Collaborate closely with payroll, human resources, treasury, and other internal stakeholders to ensure accurate accounting treatment of transactions and timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Contribute to interim forecasting efforts and support the preparation of annual budgets related to payroll.
  • Provide cross-coverage for team members as needed and perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA required.
  • Demonstrated success leading or significantly contributing to accounting system implementations, process improvements, or broader finance transformation initiatives required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Advanced Excel skills and comprehensive knowledge of general ledger accounting.
  • Payroll accounting experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced close environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical capabilities, and effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Proactive mindset with sound problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.


Salary Range: $150k - $190k
