Position Overview:
This position leads the organization’s accounting function, with oversight of the general ledger and core financial operations. The role is responsible for managing the close process and delivering timely, accurate financial reporting in compliance with U.S. GAAP. This individual will supervise the Accounting team, oversee key operational accounting areas, and serve as a primary liaison with external auditors and tax advisors throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and oversee the Accounting team to ensure accurate work, efficient processes, and strong internal controls.
- Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and timely completion of financial reporting requirements.
- Review financial statements and investigate balance sheet and income statement fluctuations, summarizing trends and explanations for leadership.
- Manage inventory and cost accounting activities, including reconciliation of cost of sales and analysis of gross profit by project or business line.
- Provide oversight of core accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and customer billing activities.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and generate sales commission reporting as needed.
- Manage payroll administration to ensure accurate processing and compliance with applicable employment regulations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal reporting obligations, including preparation and filing of sales and use tax returns.
- Support the annual budgeting process and assist with recurring forecast updates.
- Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors and tax advisors during the annual audit and tax preparation processes.
- Assist in developing and monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to support organizational objectives.
- Perform additional accounting or finance-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Approximately 6-8 years of progressive accounting experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional background.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP standards and financial reporting requirements.
- Hands-on experience overseeing transactional accounting functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Experience working with ERP or financial management systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across departments and with leadership.
- Demonstrated leadership ability and experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced setting.
- Fluent in English with the ability to communicate clearly in a professional environment.
Salary Range: $110k - $130k
