Job Overview:

Seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to join a dynamic finance and accounting team. This role involves close collaboration with senior leadership, including the CFO and EVP of Finance & Operations, supporting global business operations with a particular focus on activities in China. The position is based at a prominent headquarters in New York City.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets, on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, along with detailed account reconciliations.
  • Conduct daily account reconciliations, ensuring the integrity of key operational controls and resolving discrepancies between general ledger and sub-ledger systems to maintain accurate regulatory reporting.
  • Oversee daily segregation of fully paid securities and manage weekly calculations of reserve requirements to ensure compliance with capital regulations.
  • Develop supporting documentation and provide technical accounting guidance for audits, including preparing memos on broker-dealer regulations for internal and external auditors.
  • Monitor regulatory updates and recommend changes to processes or controls to ensure adherence to industry regulations, particularly those set by FINRA and the SEC.
  • Handle daily accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, vendor reconciliation, revenue tracking, and various special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Advanced degree or CPA certification preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in financial services or public accounting, with a preference for experience in the securities industry or with a FINRA-regulated broker-dealer.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving abilities, and capability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in Mandarin considered an advantage, though not mandatory.


Salary Range: $90k - $110k
