Position Summary

Our client is seeking a highly skilled and innovative Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence initiatives across operations and business functions. This role will collaborate closely with commercial insights teams, manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, data teams, external vendors, service owners, and IS partners to develop analytical models and actionable insights that solve complex business challenges.

The ideal candidate will lead projects from concept through implementation, driving measurable business impact through strategic use of data science, AI, and predictive analytics technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field preferred
• Specialized coursework or certifications in Artificial Intelligence (AI) or Machine Learning (ML)
• Experience developing and implementing automated inspection systems
• Hands-on experience developing AI/ML models for:
• Image analysis
• Defect detection
• Classification
• Process optimization
• Experience with Computer Vision technologies and industrial camera systems
• Strong knowledge of:
• Machine Learning
• Deep Learning
• Generative AI
• Large Language Models (LLMs)
• Experience using AI/ML frameworks and tools such as:
• Python
• TensorFlow
• PyTorch
• OpenCV
• Basic statistical analysis experience using:
• Minitab
• JMP
• Other statistical software
• Understanding of inspection development processes and validation methodologies
• Experience generating technical documentation, protocols, reports, and development records
• Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP), quality systems, and compliance requirements
• Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments and communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Quality and compliance-oriented mindset with strong attention to detail
• Proficient in Artificial Intelligence tools and digital technologies
• Experience in regulated industries such as:
• Pharmaceutical
• Biotechnology
• Medical Devices
• Manufacturing
• Experience integrating or deploying AI solutions into manufacturing or operational environments is highly desirable

Essential Functions

• Lead and develop data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence capabilities across the organization
• Lead cross-functional projects and programs focused on generating insights that drive significant business value
• Work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple priorities
• Identify business needs, conduct SWOT analyses, recommend analytical solutions, obtain approvals, and execute projects end-to-end
• Develop high-performance algorithms, predictive models, prototypes, and proof-of-concepts using Python
• Utilize SQL and other database query languages to analyze and manage large datasets
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define methodologies that address specific business questions
• Present analytical concepts, progress updates, and results clearly and effectively to business partners
• Create impactful presentations and data-driven storytelling using PowerPoint and Excel
• Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, privacy, and data governance requirements

• Degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related field
• Proven experience leading projects and managing end-to-end execution
• Strong experience with relational databases, SQL, and graph databases
• Programming experience with:

• Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks including:
• Scikit-learn
• MLlib
• Keras
• TensorFlow
• PyTorch
• Ability to develop well-structured, reusable, and scalable code in Python, R, or Scala

• Ability to collaborate with business partners and IS teams to drive analytics projects successfully
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present data insights clearly and effectively
• Experience working with distributed computing tools such as Spark and Hive
• Passion for continuous learning and staying current with emerging trends in advanced analytics and AI
• Biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
