Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to lead advanced analytics initiatives and collaborate with cross-functional business partners across the PR Operations organization.

This role will work closely with teams including Commercial Insights, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Data, External Vendor Partners, Service Owners, and Information Systems (IS) to develop analytical models and actionable insights that address complex business challenges.

The Senior Data Scientist will lead projects from concept through execution, using data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics to identify opportunities, solve business problems, and deliver measurable business value.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence projects, from identifying business needs through implementation and delivery of results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners to translate business challenges into analytical solutions.
• Independently identify opportunities, assess business needs, perform SWOT analyses, recommend analytical approaches, obtain stakeholder approval, and execute projects with minimal supervision.
• Develop high-performance algorithms, prototypes, predictive models, and proof-of-concepts using Python and other applicable technologies.
• Work with SQL and other database query languages to extract, analyze, and manage complex datasets.
• Develop analytical methodologies that effectively address specific business questions and operational challenges.
• Apply advanced analytics and machine learning techniques to generate actionable business insights.
• Work with large and complex datasets while ensuring data quality, integrity, security, and appropriate governance.
• Present analytical concepts, project progress, findings, and recommendations to business stakeholders in a clear, concise, and impactful manner.
• Create compelling data-driven presentations and business stories using PowerPoint and Excel.
• Collaborate with IS resources, technical teams, business partners, and external vendors to successfully deliver analytical projects.
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, security, privacy, and data governance requirements, particularly within a highly regulated GMP environment.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, methodologies, and industry developments in data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and advanced analytics.

Education & Experience

Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience combinations:

• Doctorate in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Physics, Operations Research, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Master’s degree + 2 years of relevant experience in data science, business, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, business analytics, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Bachelor’s degree + 4 years of relevant experience in data science, business, statistics, data mining, applied mathematics, business analytics, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
• Associate degree + 8 years of relevant experience in the above-mentioned fields.
• High School Diploma/GED + 10 years of relevant experience in the above-mentioned fields.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Degree or strong professional background in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Physics, Statistics, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience leading analytical projects from initiation through completion.
• Experience working with databases, including relational databases, SQL, and graph databases.
• Strong programming experience with Python, R, SAS, or Scala.
• Experience with machine learning libraries and frameworks such as scikit-learn, MLlib, Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Ability to develop well-structured, reusable, and maintainable code.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Experience with statistical software and programming languages such as R, MATLAB, SAS, or Python.
• Strong knowledge of SQL and database technologies.
• Experience working with large datasets and distributed computing technologies, such as Spark and Hive.
• Strong understanding of programming, coding, system design, architecture, algorithms, and data structures.
• Ability to translate business questions into analytical approaches and develop data-driven solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to select the appropriate analytical tools and methodologies based on the business problem.
• Strong logical reasoning, problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple complex datasets and projects simultaneously.
• Ability to collaborate with and influence business partners and technical resources to drive projects to completion.

• Experience working in Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, or another highly regulated industry is preferred.
