Title: EHS Specialist (Ergonomics & Industrial Hygiene Preferred)

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist to support and enhance EHS programs within a manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements through proactive risk identification, incident prevention, ergonomics management, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Environmental, Health & Safety within manufacturing operations, with demonstrated experience supporting ergonomics programs and preferred exposure to Industrial Hygiene practices. This role requires a collaborative professional who can partner effectively with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations, company policies, and industry standards through workplace inspections, hazard identification, risk assessments, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Administer and support ergonomics programs, including workstation assessments, ergonomic evaluations, identification of risk factors, and implementation of corrective improvements.
  • Support Industrial Hygiene initiatives, including occupational exposure assessments, hazard identification, environmental monitoring activities, and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and support the ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with internal procedures, audit requirements, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Conduct EHS audits, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and risk assessments to identify opportunities for hazard reduction and compliance improvement.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver EHS training programs, including new employee orientation, safety awareness initiatives, and recurring compliance training.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to evaluate process changes, equipment installations, and workplace modifications to ensure safe and compliant operations.
  • Support regulatory inspections and interact with regulatory agencies, emergency response organizations, and internal stakeholders as required.
  • Analyze incident trends, safety observations, ergonomic findings, and performance metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by driving employee engagement, hazard reporting, and risk reduction initiatives across the organization.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS), Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments, workplace inspections, incident investigations, hazard identification, and corrective/preventive action implementation.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and Environmental, Health & Safety compliance requirements.
  • Experience supporting and maintaining an ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management System, including audits, compliance activities, corrective actions, and continuous improvement programs.
  • Hands-on experience supporting ergonomics programs, including ergonomic assessments, workstation evaluations, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with experience utilizing root cause analysis methodologies.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting regulated or high-risk manufacturing environments, including Medical Device, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Electronics, Electromechanical, Aerospace, Industrial Manufacturing, or similar industries.
  • Previous experience within a Medical Device manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Hygiene principles and practices, including occupational exposure assessment, environmental monitoring, identification of chemical, physical, biological, and ergonomic hazards, and implementation of mitigation controls.
  • Professional certifications such as:
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
  • OSHA Certifications
  • Ergonomics-related certifications
  • Equivalent industry-recognized certifications
