Working hours are flexible and to be agreed with successful candidate – Saturday working is on a rota based system             

 

The Client

Our client is a well-established builders’ merchants with locations across Northern Ireland and Ireland. With over 400 employees they are recognised as a leading Company in the industry and supply general and specialist building materials, timber, and hardware to the construction trade, the DIY sector and the general public.

 

Role Purpose

The External Sales Representative will play a key role in driving sales efforts by actively identifying and engaging prospective customers. This results-oriented role involves promoting and selling their product range while building and nurturing lasting customer relationships to meet and exceed sales targets. With a strong focus on delivering exceptional customer service, the successful candidate will reflect the company's commitment to excellence. This role offers a valuable opportunity to leverage sales expertise and industry knowledge, making a meaningful contribution to their ongoing success.


Duties & Responsibilities

·        Responsible for presenting, promoting and selling our products to existing and prospective customers.

·        This person will be responsible for establishing, developing and maintaining positive customer relationships ensuring focus on the achievement of long-term customer loyalty

·        Establishing customer leads through cold calling and ensuring follow up of any potential new customers

·        Achieving agreed upon sales targets and outcomes.

 

Key Competencies & Skills 

·        Proven track record of sales in the Construction sector providing excellent customer service

·        Ideally a robust knowledge of building/timber materials

·        Excellent selling, communication and negotiation skills

·        Ability to multi-task, prioritise and manage time effectively

·        Experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines

·        Experience of both working in a team and individually

·        Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

·        Must have IT experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office

  

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role is an experienced sales professional with a proven track record in the construction sector, ideally with knowledge of building and timber materials. They will be a confident communicator with exceptional selling and negotiation skills, dedicated to building and maintaining strong customer relationships to foster long-term loyalty. Highly organised and capable of multitasking, they thrive under pressure and can meet tight deadlines while managing time efficiently. Proficient in Microsoft Office, the successful candidate will excel both independently and as part of a team, bringing a customer-focused approach and a commitment to achieving sales targets.
