The Client

Our client is a well-established builders' merchants with a strong presence in the South Dublin market. This branch is one of the busiest in their network, with high footfall across a loyal account customer base and a steady flow of trade and cash business.

The plumbing department operates as a standalone unit within the branch, distinct from heating, giving the successful candidate clear ownership of their own patch within a much larger operation.

The Role

As Plumbing Sales Supervisor, you will take day-to-day ownership of the plumbing trade counter and the small team behind it. This is a customer-facing role first and a people-management role second: the emphasis is on managing the flow of account and cash customers through a busy counter, with some responsibility for guiding a plumbing team of two.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Counter & Customer Management

•     Manage day-to-day activity on the plumbing trade counter

•     Serve and build relationships with a mixed customer base of account (c. 60%) and walk-in (c. 40%) customers

•     Ensure consistently high standards of customer service during busy periods

Team Supervision

•     Provide day-to-day supervision and guidance to a plumbing team of two

•     Support staff development and day-to-day performance on the counter

•     Act as first point of contact on plumbing product queries and escalations

Sales & Stock

•     Drive sales performance across the plumbing department

•     Support stock management, ordering, and merchandising for the plumbing range

•     Maintain strong product knowledge across the plumbing category

Operational

•     Work the Saturday roster as required (generally one in two Saturdays, paid at time and a half)

•     Ensure compliance with branch policies, health and safety, and quality standards

•     Liaise with the Branch Manager on department performance

The Ideal Candidate

You will have:

•     Experience in a plumbing merchant, builders' merchant, or plumbing trade counter environment

•     Solid plumbing product knowledge

•     Some experience guiding or supporting colleagues, even informally

•     Comfort working in a high-footfall, fast-paced trade counter environment

•     Willingness to work a Saturday roster
