Job Title: Assistant Manager – Hardware & Plumbing Trade Counter

Working Hours/Days: Full-time (8.30am to 6pm Monday to Friday & every Second Saturday 9pm to 4pm with a day off midweek in lieu)

Reporting to: Store Manager

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Assistant Manager to join a well-established hardware store in County Cavan. This role requires a strong background in plumbing and hardware, along with excellent leadership and customer service skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the day-to-day operations of the store, ensuring smooth business operations.
• Provide expert advice to customers on plumbing supplies, tools, and general hardware products.
• Support and lead a team, ensuring high standards of customer service and store presentation.
• Manage stock control, including ordering, receiving, and merchandising products.
• Assist with staff training, ensuring the team stays updated on new products and industry trends.
• Handle cash management, including sales transactions, end-of-day reconciliations, and banking.
• Contribute to sales growth by identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling.
• Ensure health & safety policies are followed in the workplace.

Requirements:

• Previous experience in a retail hardware or plumbing-related environment.
• Strong knowledge of plumbing products, hardware, and building materials.
• Experience in a supervisory or assistant management role is desirable.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and general computer skills.
