The Client

Our client is a well-established and highly respected Builders Merchant operating across Ireland, with a strong reputation for product range, customer service, and operational excellence. They are currently looking to appoint a Branch Manager to lead the performance, growth, and day-to-day operations of a key branch.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Regional Director, the Branch Manager will take full responsibility for the overall performance of the branch, including sales, profitability, operations, and team leadership. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on driving revenue, improving margins, and ensuring a high-performing, customer-focused branch environment.

Duties & Responsibilities

Sales & Commercial

• Own and deliver sales and gross profit targets

• Drive a consistently high standard of customer service across all channels

• Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and sales teams

• Ensure effective quotation management and pricing discipline

• Use local market knowledge to identify and deliver growth opportunities

• Work closely with external sales teams to maximise performance

Margin & Financial

• Take full ownership of margin performance through pricing and product mix

• Manage branch costs and overall P&L performance

• Ensure effective credit control and timely debt collection

• Operate in line with branch budgets and business plans

Operations & Stock

• Oversee all aspects of stock control, ordering, and stock profile management

• Maintain strong stock accuracy and minimise loss, damage, and errors

• Ensure the branch is well-presented, organised, and fully merchandised

• Drive efficient order fulfilment, logistics, and transport coordination

Leadership & People

• Lead, motivate, and develop the branch team to deliver high performance

• Drive a strong culture of customer service, accountability, and continuous improvement

• Support training, development, and succession planning

• Ensure clear communication across all teams and functions

Health & Safety & Branch Management

• Take full responsibility for health & safety compliance across the branch

• Ensure all policies, procedures, and operational standards are followed

• Oversee branch facilities, layout, and infrastructure

• Manage day-to-day branch operations and overall performance

Requirements

• Proven Branch Management experience within Hardware/Builders Merchants or similar

• Strong commercial acumen with P&L responsibility

• Deep understanding of building materials and trade customers

• Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams

• Strong operational and organisational capability

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Package

• Basic salary – Circa €65k to €85k  (DOE)
