Reporting to: Branch Manager and Regional Sales Manager


The Client

Our client, is a leading Builders Merchant with a strong national presence and a reputation for product range, customer service, and reliability across the construction sector.

With continued growth across multiple regions, they are now looking to appoint Sales Representatives in Drogheda, Cork and Kildare to drive revenue, strengthen customer relationships, and develop new business opportunities within their respective territories.


Job Purpose

Reporting to the Branch Manager and Regional Sales leadership, the Sales Representative will be responsible for managing and growing an existing customer base while actively identifying and securing new business.

This is a field-based role focused on building long-term relationships, increasing market share, and delivering against agreed sales targets.


Duties & Responsibilities

Sales & Business Development

  • Develop and grow sales within an assigned territory
  • Identify and convert new business opportunities
  • Present, promote and sell a wide range of building materials products
  • Achieve and exceed agreed sales and margin targets

Customer Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing customers
  • Conduct regular site visits, meetings and product demonstrations
  • Deliver a high level of customer service and follow-up

Market & Territory Management

  • Maintain strong awareness of competitor activity and market trends
  • Manage a structured call plan while remaining flexible to opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless service delivery

Lead Generation & Pipeline

  • Proactively generate leads through networking and cold calling
  • Maintain accurate records of activity and pipeline using CRM systems

 

Ideal Candidate

This will suit you if you’re someone who enjoys being out on the road, building relationships and growing a territory rather than sitting behind a desk. You’ll likely have some experience selling into builders’ merchants, construction, or a related trade environment, and understand how these customers operate day to day. You’re comfortable managing your own time, following up on leads, and keeping momentum in your pipeline without needing close supervision. You’ll be naturally personable, able to build trust quickly, and confident in having commercial conversations that lead to results. Just as importantly, you’ll have the resilience to keep going when things don’t land straight away, and the drive to turn opportunities into long-term business.


Key Competencies & Skills

  • 2–5+ years’ experience in field sales, ideally within builders’ merchants, construction products, or related sectors
  • Strong relationship builder with a commercial mindset
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently
  • Proven ability to achieve sales targets
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Organised with good territory and time management
  • Full clean driver’s licence
