Assistant Branch Manager – North County Cork

Location: North County Cork

Reports to: Branch Manager & Senior Management

Sector: Builders Providers / Construction Supplies

Working Days/Hours: Monday–Saturday (5-day week, rota basis) – 8 am – 5:30pm (½ hour lunch break) 4.30pm finish on Saturdays

Our client is a long-established and highly respected builder’s providers business, known for delivering quality building materials, excellent customer service, and strong trade relationships across Munster.

They offer a comprehensive range of construction, DIY, and home improvement products to both professional contractors and homeowners.


About the Role

This is a key leadership position within a busy and successful branch.

The Assistant Branch Manager will play a hands-on role supporting the Branch Manager in day-to-day operations — ensuring the branch runs smoothly, achieves sales targets, and maintains high standards of service, safety, and efficiency.

You’ll lead from the front, managing a small team, supporting trade counter sales, and ensuring excellent customer experience.

It’s an ideal opportunity for someone with strong merchanting or construction supply experience who enjoys a fast-paced environment and has ambitions to progress further.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Branch Manager in all aspects of branch operations including sales, customer service, stock control, and logistics
  • Lead, motivate, and coach staff to deliver excellent service and performance
  • Proactively drive branch sales and profitability through strong customer relationships and local business development
  • Manage inventory and ordering processes to ensure effective stock levels
  • Maintain full compliance with company procedures and health & safety standards
  • Deputise for the Branch Manager during periods of absence
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and internal teams


 

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within a builder’s providers, construction supply, or DIY retail environment
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Strong product knowledge across building materials and related trades
  • Commercially minded, with a track record of driving sales growth
  • Customer-focused with a commitment to service excellence
  • Competent in Microsoft Office and POS/inventory systems
  • Full, clean driving licence


Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: €50,000–€60,000 DOE + 10% bonus
