Regional Sales Manager – North Leinster & Ulster (Merchant Division)

Location: Field-based (covering Galway / Dublin upwards, including Northern Ireland)

Industry: Hardware / Construction Materials

Reports to: Group Commercial Director

Team: 4 Area Sales Managers

Type: Full-Time, Permanent


About the Company

Our client is a well-established supplier to the Irish hardware and construction materials sector, known for quality products, long-standing customer relationships, and a strong reputation across the merchant channel.

They are now seeking a Regional Sales Manager to lead the Merchant Division across North Leinster and Ulster — a key role responsible for managing a small team of Area Sales Managers and driving continued growth across Ireland’s leading hardware and builders’ merchants.


This is an ideal step-up opportunity for an experienced Senior Sales Representative or Key Account Manager who knows the merchant world well.

The Role

  • Manage and support a team of 4 Area Sales Managers across North Leinster and Ulster.
  • Develop and deliver practical sales strategies to achieve growth in revenue, margin, and market share.
  • Strengthen relationships with builders’ merchants, buying groups, and key accounts.
  • Identify and secure new business opportunities within the merchant channel.
  • Collaborate closely with purchasing, marketing, and logistics to ensure an excellent customer experience.
  • Lead by example — supporting your team with customer visits, joint calls, and coaching.
  • Use CRM systems to monitor pipeline activity and report performance to the senior team.
  • Represent the business at trade events and customer days.


Experience & Background

  • 5+ years’ sales experience in the hardware, construction, or building materials sector.
  • Strong knowledge of the builders’ merchant channel in Ireland.
  • Track record in territory or key account management.
  • Previous experience mentoring or supporting others is a plus.
  • CRM and reporting experience with a data-driven mindset.
  • Confident communication and presentation skills.

Package

  • Basic Salary: circa €70,000
  • Bonus: Performance-related
