Working Days/Hours: 40 hours weekly - Monday to Friday (8.30am to 5.30pm) & every second Saturday (8.30am – 5pm)

This growth and expansion has created an opportunity for a customer focused sales person with strong product knowledge to join the team in Co. Laois.
The Role
As a Trade Counter Salesperson, you’ll be the first point of contact for customers at a busy branch. This is a customer-facing role that requires strong product knowledge, a helpful manner, and the ability to build lasting relationships with trade and DIY customers alike. This will often include preparing quotations and processing orders for phone-in or email customers. You’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth counter operations while maximising sales opportunities. As a member of the trade counter team, you will also be responsible for a tidy shop floor area, working with the merchandising team to ensure high standards of stock presentation are maintained.
Key Responsibilities
· Serve customers at the trade counter, providing expert advice and product recommendations.
· Process quotations, orders, and returns quickly and accurately.
· Develop strong relationships with trade customers, ensuring repeat business.
· Assist with stock control, merchandising, and maintaining a well-presented trade counter.
· Support with ordering and liaising with suppliers on product availability.
· Proactively identify upselling opportunities to drive branch sales.
· Ensure a safe and tidy working environment in line with health & safety standards.
About You
· Previous experience in a trade counter, builder’s merchant, or hardware retail environment (Minimum 1 year)
· Product knowledge in general building supplies is highly desirable.
· Comfortable serving both trade and retail customers with a professional and friendly approach.
· Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
· Commercially minded with a focus on customer service and sales.
· IT literate – knowledge of EPOS systems and stock management software is an advantage.
