Job Title: Assistant Branch Manager

Working Days/Hours: Monday to Friday & every second Saturday

The Client

Our client is a well-established and highly respected Builders Merchants operating across Ireland, with a strong reputation for product range, customer service, and operational excellence. They are currently looking to appoint an Assistant Branch Manager to support the continued growth and performance of one of their key branches.


Job Purpose

Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Assistant Branch Manager will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the branch, with responsibility across sales, operations, team leadership, and customer experience. This role is central to driving revenue, improving margins, and ensuring a high-performing, well-run branch environment.


Duties & Responsibilities

Sales & Commercial

  • Support delivery of sales and gross profit targets
  • Drive a high standard of customer service across all channels
  • Build strong relationships with customers, suppliers, and sales teams
  • Manage quotations and ensure pricing procedures are followed
  • Identify opportunities to grow sales across product ranges

Margin & Financial

  • Support margin improvement through effective pricing and product mix
  • Assist in managing branch costs and overall P&L performance
  • Work with credit control to support timely debt collection
  • Provide local market insight to inform pricing and product decisions

Operations & Stock

  • Oversee stock control, ordering, and stock profile management
  • Maintain strong stock accuracy and minimise loss, damage, and errors
  • Ensure the branch is well-presented, organised, and fully merchandised
  • Support efficient order fulfilment and logistics

Leadership & People

  • Support, coach, and develop branch staff
  • Lead by example in performance, standards, and customer experience
  • Contribute to a positive, engaged, and high-performing team culture

Health & Safety & Branch Support

  • Ensure full compliance with all health & safety standards
  • Support day-to-day branch operations and continuous improvement
  • Take responsibility for the branch in the absence of the Branch Manager


Requirements

  • Previous experience in a Hardware/Builders Merchants or similar environment
  • Strong understanding of sales, margin, and branch operations
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
  • Excellent customer service and relationship management skills
  • Good commercial awareness and financial understanding
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
