Our client is a reputable Civil Engineering firm in the greater Charlotte, NC area is seeking a Civil Engineering Department Manager to lead and develop a civil team. The ideal candidate will have experience in land development, infrastructure design, and construction document preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Manage design development, contract documents, cost opinions, agency correspondence, client relations, and staff supervision for various projects
- Lead, mentor, and strategically grow the engineering team
- Drive business development through community involvement and coordination with corporate business development manager
- Ensure client satisfaction through excellent communication and designs that meet budget and time goals
- Oversee quality control for construction document preparation and design
- Handle permitting submittals and coordination with authorities having jurisdiction
- Manage project proposals, contracts, schedules, budgets, and invoicing
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
Qualifications:
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Professional Engineer Registration (NC and SC preferred)
- Minimum 8 years of professional engineering design and project management experience
- Experience in fast-paced, multidisciplinary environments with tight deadlines
- Strong background in land development, site planning, grading design, and construction document preparation
- Ability to coordinate tasks with other department managers, engineers, surveyors, and planners
- Experience mentoring project managers and engineers-in-training/design staff
- Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and design software
- Strong business development and financial management skills
- Experience with AHJ codes, standards, and technical specifications
- Proficiency in developing and designing construction details
- Experience with a formalized QA/QC program
- Strong collaboration and presentation skills
- Ability to pass drug screen, background check, and have a satisfactory driving record
