Position Summary: Provide the full scope of services which fall under provider’s field of training, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care and electronic medical record (EMR) maintenance, while following guidelines contained within the quality management, risk management, infection control, customer service and safety programs.


Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Practice of medicine within the scope of license, training, credentialing and in accordance with the current standards of care and quality criteria adopted by client.
  2. See patients in the client’s clinics during office hours. This is a broad-spectrum pediatric practice.
  3. Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  4. Order, perform and interpret tests and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients’ condition.
  5. Complete charting on an electronic medical record and required paperwork in a timely manner. Maintain confidential patient information.
  6. Inpatient care of pediatric patients at AMITA Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Centers.
  7. Participation in teaching activities with the Saints Mary and Elizabeth Family Medicine Residency Program including precepting residents at the client’s Young Family Health Center and attending faculty meetings as needed.
  8. Participate in the development/review of organizational policies and quality improvement initiatives.
  9. Participate in provider meetings.
  10. Promote a safety-conscious work force and maintain good housekeeping practices.
  11. Communicate appropriately with patients, staff, and colleagues.
  12. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Physical Demands

  1. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
  2. Must be able to move around the clinic site 50% of the time.
  3. Constantly operates a computer, computer printer, copy machine, and telephone.
  4. Occasionally positions self to maintain exertion of physical strength to move objects of 10 pounds from one level to another.
  5. Must be able to transport from one site to another.
  6. Must be able to cover other shifts as necessary.

Call Schedule:

  • Rotating between Pediatrician, MDs new born nursery rounding Monday to Friday. Traditionally either before or after clinic hours.
  • If on the schedule for Saturday new born nursery rounding would apply.
  • Providers are not required to attend deliveries or be present during a “C” section.
  • NO after hour/night/evening call.
  • NO newborn rounding on Sundays


Patient Template Schedule

Medical Providers are scheduled to see patients 8.5 sessions per week.

Medical providers have Administration time for 1.5 sessions per week.

Patients are scheduled every 15 minutes. 24 to 26 patients are scheduled in an 8 hour clinic day.

Provide health care to children up to the age of 19.

2 medical assistants are assigned to each provider to ensure smooth patient care and flow.

Teaching sessions for Family Medicine Residents typically 2 sessions per week only for 2nd and 3rd year residents.

Providers are scheduled for one evening per week and work from 11:30am to 8pm on that day.

All providers at the site cover one Saturday every four weeks working from 9am to 2pm and are scheduled another day off during the week.
