We're currently seeking a Financial Applications Engineer to join our Information Technology team in Chicago. This role is instrumental in supporting, maintaining, and evolving the firm’s financial applications ecosystem, ensuring that platforms align with operational priorities and firmwide business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, enhance, and support key financial and accounting systems used across the firm.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and liaison between finance, IT, and third-party vendors.
- Lead or contribute to large-scale projects involving application upgrades, integrations, and new implementations.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical solutions.
- Provide high-quality user support and troubleshooting for financial systems.
- Evaluate and recommend improvements or new tools to optimize financial workflows and performance.
- Create and maintain documentation including functional specs, data models, and technical process flows.
- Build and deploy application enhancements while ensuring best practices in QA and release management.
- Oversee system updates, security patches, and scheduled maintenance activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure technology solutions meet evolving business goals.
Qualifications
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Finance, or a related field—or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 6 years of experience working with enterprise financial applications in an IT setting.
- Prior experience in a law firm or professional services firm is highly preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with Aderant Expert, Elite 3E, or comparable financial platforms.
- Experience with IBM Watson or similar AI/analytics tools is also welcome and considered a strong plus.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Solid understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with client-server architecture and web-based development environments.
- Ability to evaluate system capabilities and align technical solutions with business needs.
