Our partner is a closely held boutique investment bank, supporting investors, developers, and strategics in their industry verticals through capital raising, project finance, and M&A advisory, with approximately 50 employees and EBIT of $50m+.
As they continue to scale, they are seeking a Senior Accountant to play a key role in managing internal financial operations.
Position Overview
The Senior Accountant will lead internal accounting, financial controls, and reporting functions while collaborating closely with leadership, external auditors, and legal/tax advisors. We are looking for someone confident in assessing current processes, identifying gaps or inefficiencies, and building a more robust reporting and accounting infrastructure from the ground up. This position is best suited for someone who values accuracy, consistency, and ownership within a professional investment banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Own full-cycle accounting, including general ledger management, journal entries, and monthly close for multiple legal entities, including foreign subsidiary.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, consolidated reporting, and partnership allocations.
- Coordinate and manage retainer invoices, expense reimbursement structures, and deal-related accruals.
- Maintain broker-dealer/investment advisory regulatory reporting, including FINRA/SEC filings (FOCUS reports) or equivalent, if applicable. Candidates open to being trained in regulatory reporting requirements will be considered.
- Track transaction-based revenue streams, including M&A and financing advisory fees, and fees linked to carry / incentive structures.
- Work closely with leadership to support annual budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial strategy.
- Manage tax preparation coordination with external CPA firms, including K-1s, federal/state returns, and compliance filings for multiple entities.
- Oversee payroll, benefits accounting, A/P, A/R, and vendor and bill payment management, including investment research subscriptions, data rooms, and deal-related expenses.
- Support audit preparation, internal controls development, and process documentation.
- Assist with partner distributions, equity ownership tracking, and compensation modeling for bonus plans.
Qualifications
- Must be located in the Tampa Bay area.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
- 5+ years of accounting experience, ideally within investment banking, private equity, venture capital, or other financial services.
- Prior FINRA/SEC compliance reporting or experience in broker-dealer accounting is a major plus.
- Series 79 or willing to obtain within 5/6 months of hire.
- High proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and financial reporting tools (experience implementing new systems a plus).
- Detail-oriented with exceptional communication skills, a proactive mindset and an ownership mentality.
