Location & Work Flexibility:

This senior leadership role offers a flexible hybrid or remote work arrangement. While remote candidates are welcome, preference will be given to those in or willing to work near our key office locations, including Houston, Dallas (HQ), Virginia, Colorado, Tennessee, and Austin. For highly experienced, managing senior candidates, there may even be consideration for opening a new location.


Your Strategic Impact & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the comprehensive production of structural and miscellaneous steel shop drawings, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and detail for a diverse portfolio of complex projects.
  • Masterfully utilize industry-leading platforms including SDS/2, Tekla, Revit, and AutoCAD to prepare and refine cutting-edge designs.
  • Drive critical coordination efforts with architects, engineers, contractors, and material suppliers, ensuring seamless integration and project completion.
  • Proactively manage all Requests for Information (RFIs) and swiftly resolve complex field issues, minimizing project disruptions and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Oversee meticulous project documentation and robust document control, ensuring regulatory compliance, accessibility for all team members, and the integrity of project files.
  • Provide expert assistance with field troubleshooting and crucial erection support, leveraging your deep technical knowledge.
  • Detail complex miscellaneous steel components, including but not limited to stairs, handrails, supports, frames, and braces.


What You'll Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, OR a minimum of four (4) years of experience in steel detailing or a related role involving structural or miscellaneous steel drafting using SDS/2, Tekla, or AutoCAD.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • The ability to work autonomously, demonstrate strong initiative, and contribute proactively as a leader within a team environment.
  • Extensive experience in coordinating complex design elements and project stakeholders.



Physical Requirements (Standard for role):

  • Ability to perform substantial repetitive movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
  • Clear close vision (Clear vision at 20 inches or less), distance vision (Clear vision at 20 feet or more), and color vision (Ability to identify and distinguish colors).
  • Capable of continuous sitting, standing, walking, using stairs, hearing, talking, bending, crouching, and working closely with others.
  • Ability to occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force (up to 100 pounds via dolly) to lift, carry, pull, or move objects
