Metrics Recruitment is seeking a Senior Rust Engineer for a new EVM-compatible Layer 1 blockchain that is being built to deliver ultra-low latency, app-specific ordering, high throughput, and built-in privacy. help build and scale our Layer 1 blockchain. You’ll play a critical role in advancing the core protocol, consensus, networking, and performance. We’re looking for someone who thrives in low-level systems engineering, understands blockchain internals, and can help build a performant, secure, and developer-friendly platform. Blockchain experience is required; rETH experience is a plus but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Rust components for the Layer 1 blockchain (consensus, networking, execution environment, validators, and related systems).
- Optimize for performance, safety, and scalability across all layers of the protocol.
- Collaborate closely with the existing Rust engineering team and cross-functional product, cryptography, and Solidity teams.
- Implement and maintain APIs and developer interfaces that interact with core systems.
- Contribute to architecture discussions, roadmap planning, and design reviews.
- Write robust tests (unit, integration, property/fuzz testing) and perform code reviews to ensure quality and security.
- Keep up with advances in Rust, blockchain performance engineering, and emerging standards.
Requirements
- 3–7+ years of software engineering experience with at least 2+ years in Rust (production grade systems preferred).
- Proven experience building or maintaining blockchain protocols, nodes, validators, or related infrastructure.
- Strong grasp of distributed systems, networking, and/or consensus mechanisms.
- Ability to write secure, efficient, and maintainable Rust code at scale.
- Familiarity with testing frameworks, debugging tools, and performance profiling in Rust.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup-style environment and collaborating across teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with rETH, staking protocols, or Ethereum ecosystem tooling.
- Contributions to open source Rust or blockchain projects.
- Experience with cryptography, zero knowledge proofs, or privacy primitives.
- Familiarity with performance optimization for high-throughput, low-latency systems.
- Understanding of MEV mitigation, app-specific ordering, or validator economics.
