Senior Maintenance Mechanical Engineer Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Sr. Mechanical Engineer to reports the Maintenance Engineering Manager and is responsible for delivering mechanical maintenance engineering expertise for the site. Your role involves collaborating with Production and Maintenance teams on design reviews, repairs, and maintenance tasks, including predictive and preventative maintenance activities.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide troubleshooting support and recommendations to operating units on equipment reliability, including emergency work reviews using your expertise in equipment and mechanical systems.
- Offer technical guidance to the Maintenance Supervisor, specialists, and craftsmen on complex repair issues.
- Establish, monitor, and optimize Preventative and Predictive Maintenance plans, while assisting in the training and development of in-house maintenance personnel.
- Actively participate in Root Cause Failure Analyses and implementing corrective actions for complex or recurring problems.
- Leverage general knowledge of mechanical equipment design and maintenance practices related to process equipment, such as centrifugal pumps, piping systems, pressure vessels (including heat exchangers), atmospheric storage tanks, positive displacement pumps, relief devices, and various compressors.
- Provide engineering support for capital projects, ensuring compliance with plant design specifications.

- Ability to modify in progress construction projects and make appropriate adjustments to schedules as needed and communicate changes to appropriate parties.
- Interpret, analyze, apply, articulate, and ensure compliance with relevant laws, rules, contracts, ordinances, regulations and guidelines.
- Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals.
- Strong commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum Required: B.S. in Mechanical or Industrial Technology Engineering.
- 7-10 years of experience in mechanical or industrial technology and/or related field and experience in maintenance and/or reliability design, construction of mining, chemical refining and/or industrial manufacturing projects.
- Experience in design review, repair and maintenance; predictive/preventative maintenance activities.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and make meaningful impact to technical requirements on projects.
- Hold optimization of equipment maintenance activities and strategies background.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and documentation abilities with the capacity to understand complex problems and distill the message into a clear plan.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Demonstrated success in safety performance management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred: Master’s degree or certifications, in, Engineering or other technical field from an accredited college or university.
- Expertise in predictive and preventative operations strategies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CMMS software.
