RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for notifying/locating patients to be registered by using a pager system
• Verifies all patient demographics, including insurance information, and ensures HIPAA guidelines are followed
• Documents accurate information into the computer system, including comments about the case or patient
• Obtains written consent from all patients
• Responsible for correcting errors or omissions, including patients' insurance information
• Issues receipt for payments received and deposit funds are locked securely
• Prepares patients' charts in advance as directed to ensure that all documents are correctly and promptly obtained
• Responsible for retrieval of surgery charts daily
• Scans all documents into the system daily as directed
• Help verify insurance and contact patients about copayments and deductibles
• Serves as a backup for any other position in the area as needed or directed
• Always exhibits a positive and professional attitude
Education: Two years of college preferred.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in a hospital or physician office setting (preferably as a registrar or insurance verification coordinator) is preferred.
Special Skills: Excellent communication skills, including oral, written, and spoken, are required, as well as the ability to identify and respond to requests or issues quickly. Excellent typing skills are also needed.
