The ideal candidate is someone who:

  • Loves technical accounting - You are happiest when you are reading the FASB codification, participating in continuing education sessions to understand the latest GAAP standard, or researching how to appropriately record sales, acquisitions, and other unique transactions.
  • Is energized by complexity - You want to understand every detail of accounting for an intricate business, and you know the best way to do this is by getting into the weeds. Though you operate at a management level, you've always been more fulfilled by being a 'do-er' and you're happy to dig into the details when needed. 
  • Thrives in a 'fixer upper' environment - You understand how an accounting function should operate, and you're comfortable questioning the status quo and implementing process improvements.
  • Leads with courage and candor - You know that with change comes friction, and you aren't afraid to engage in healthy pushback and hear different perspectives to come to the best conclusion.
  • Builds teams and people - You are someone who sees potential in others and knows how to bring out the best in your team.

 

In this role, you'll be responsible for overseeing the team that runs the day-to-day accounting for a group of unique entities. You'll lead the charge in stabilizing the accounting function by cleaning up financials and establishing reliable GL mapping to ensure each subsidiary has reporting that withstands audit scrutiny. You'll explore system implementations to increase reporting efficiencies while also understanding the full depth and breadth of current systems.
