Construction Superintendent - Greater Boston
Boston, Massachusetts, United States
Apply for this job

BELMONT Search is a construction executive search firm serving general contractors and construction managers across New England. We are engaged on current and upcoming Superintendent searches with builders across Greater Boston, on commercial, institutional, life science and multifamily projects.

THE OPPORTUNITY

These positions carry responsibility for a project's execution from mobilization through turnover, on sites where the logistics plan is as demanding as the building itself. The Superintendent is the builder's authority in the field and the person the owner sees on the project.

THE ROLE

You will direct daily site operations and carry the schedule. Subcontractors work to your plan, and you represent the project to the owner on site.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct site operations from mobilization through punch and turnover
  • Develop the project schedule with the project manager, hold it daily, and escalate movement early rather than late
  • Coordinate subcontractors and maintain look-ahead planning on an active site
  • Administer the safety and quality programs as operating standards
  • Conduct owner, architect and inspection walks
  • Develop the assistant superintendents and field engineers assigned to you

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Ten or more years in the field, several of them as the superintendent of record
  • Commercial, institutional, life science or multifamily experience in Greater Boston
  • Demonstrated command of constrained urban sites where logistics govern the schedule
  • OSHA 30 required. A Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License is an advantage on several of these searches.

COMPENSATION

Base salary of $130,000 to $170,000, plus vehicle allowance and bonus, depending on the builder and the project portfolio.

PROCESS

Every conversation is treated as confidential, including from your current employer, and no candidate is presented to a client without their prior approval.
