Substation Project Manager - Utility Programs
Boston, Massachusetts
Apply for this job

BELMONT Search is a construction executive search firm serving the electrical, utility and energy sector across the Northeast. We are engaged on current and upcoming Substation Project Manager searches with electrical and utility contractors operating across Massachusetts and New England.

THE OPPORTUNITY

These positions carry full delivery responsibility for substation packages on major utility programs: brownfield rebuilds and new construction, executed against a transmission owner's standards, documentation and outage calendar.

THE ROLE

You will manage substation packages from scope through energization, with the utility engaged at every stage, and you will be the person the transmission owner holds accountable for the outcome.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver substation packages from scope and estimate through energization and closeout
  • Manage switchyard civil and electrical scopes, both self-performed and subcontracted
  • Plan and protect outage windows so that they do not govern the completion date
  • Own the schedule in P6 and maintain its integrity as the utility's requirements develop
  • Manage long-lead procurement, including transformers and switchgear
  • Serve as the contractor's principal point of contact with the utility's project management team

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Five or more years managing substation or switchyard construction
  • Substations delivered to energization under your accountability, rather than solely in a support capacity
  • Fluency in a utility's process, standards and documentation requirements
  • Program-level relationships with a Northeast transmission owner are an advantage

COMPENSATION

Base salary of $140,000 to $180,000.

PROCESS

Every conversation is treated as confidential, including from your current employer, and no candidate is presented to a client without their prior approval.
