BELMONT Search is a construction executive search firm serving general contractors, construction managers and self-perform builders across New England. We are engaged on current and upcoming estimating searches across Greater Boston, from project level through senior.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Estimating determines which work a builder pursues and at what number. These positions carry that judgment, and the estimate is expected to hold once the project is under construction.

THE ROLE

You will price work across hard bid and negotiated delivery, and carry your estimates through to the project team that builds them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Price hard bid and negotiated work, from conceptual budgets through guaranteed maximum price
  • Perform quantity takeoff and maintain the cost history that improves subsequent bids
  • Solicit, level and secure subcontractor coverage
  • Conduct scope review that identifies gaps before they become change order disputes
  • Manage bid day and deliver a handoff the project team can build from
  • Attend site walks and pre-bid meetings

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Three or more years estimating commercial, institutional or civil construction
  • General contractor, construction manager or self-perform trade backgrounds are all relevant
  • The ability to defend a number in front of operations
  • Proficiency in On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam or comparable software

COMPENSATION

Base salary of $100,000 to $165,000, plus bonus. The range is broad because these searches span project estimator through senior estimator.

PROCESS

Every conversation is treated as confidential, including from your current employer, and no candidate is presented to a client without their prior approval.

Estimators are among the most discreetly recruited professionals in construction. If you are settled and simply wish to understand where your compensation sits against the market, that conversation is held in confidence and carries no obligation.
