Apply for this job

BELMONT Search is a construction executive search firm serving the electrical, utility and energy sector across the Northeast. We are engaged on current and upcoming High-Voltage Commissioning Manager searches with contractors and testing organizations operating across the Hudson Valley and the New York metropolitan area.

THE OPPORTUNITY

These positions carry responsibility for the final phase of a substation or transmission project: the point at which constructed work is verified, tested and placed in service. It is the phase with the least tolerance for error, and the one a utility judges most closely.

THE ROLE

You will hold final authority over energization. You will develop the test program, direct the commissioning sequence, and determine when a station is ready to be placed in service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead commissioning on high-voltage substation and transmission projects, from test plan through energization and turnover
  • Direct relay, protection and control checkout, including the testing crews executing it
  • Manage functional checkout, energization sequencing, and coordination with utility witnesses
  • Plan and protect outage windows in coordination with the transmission owner
  • Maintain the commissioning schedule and resolve the deficiencies standing between construction complete and in service
  • Produce turnover documentation to the utility's standard

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Commissioning experience on high-voltage systems at 69kV and above
  • A background in relay and protection, a NETA testing organization, a utility, or an EPC commissioning group. Each of these routes is credible.
  • Direct experience through energization, on stations for which you were accountable
  • Willingness to travel across the Hudson Valley and the New York metropolitan area

COMPENSATION

Base salary of $150,000 to $190,000. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.

PROCESS
