Job Summary
The Plant Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment used in a coal preparation plant. This role supports safe and continuous plant operations by ensuring all electrical components function reliably and in compliance with MSHA, company, and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems including motors, MCCs, PLCs, VFDs, lighting, and control circuitry
Troubleshoot electrical issues in processing equipment such as conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, centrifuges, and belt drives
Perform preventive maintenance tasks to minimize downtime and ensure optimal equipment performance
Read and interpret electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and technical manuals
Work closely with operations and maintenance teams to support plant production goals
Ensure all work complies with MSHA, OSHA, NEC, and company safety standards
Inspect electrical equipment for hazards, defects, or code violations
Participate in safety meetings, audits, and training programs
Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities
Respond to emergency troubleshooting needs during breakdowns or outages
