Project Manager 

Full-time, Onsite 

Markham, Ontario, Canada


Our client is a licensed producer (LP) focused on the manufacturing and processing of medical and recreational cannabis products. 


They are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee cross-functional business initiatives across operations, manufacturing, and administration. This position plays a vital role in leading projects from inception through completion, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals and compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards. 


The ideal candidate will bring a background in project management within biotechnology, manufacturing, or regulated industries, and will be skilled in applying Agile, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement. 


The position reports directly to the CEO and will operate in a hybrid structure, with an expectation of regular onsite presence at the Markham facility. 


MUST HAVE previous professional experience in a similar project management role within a regulated, manufacturing, or biotechnology environment. 


MUST HAVE an active PMP certification. 


MUST HAVE the ability to work onsite in Markham, Ontario area during standard business hours (Monday–Friday). 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the planning and execution of company projects from inception through delivery, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and compliance with company policies. 
  • Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and success metrics in collaboration with senior leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocations.
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure transparency and accountability. 
  • Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and issues; provide timely escalation and implement corrective actions where required. 
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for flawless execution of projects. 
  • Conduct project reviews to identify lessons learned and process improvements.
  • Prepare project documentation, including reports, budgets, and stakeholder updates. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality and safety standards, including Lean or Six Sigma continuous improvement principles where applicable. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement across teams. 
  • Support change management processes to drive adoption of new tools, workflows, or systems introduced through projects. 


Education 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field (required). 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (required). 
  • Agile or Scrum certification (preferred). 
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification (considered an asset). 


Experience 

  • 3–5 years of progressive project management experience, preferably in biotechnology, manufacturing, or related industries. 
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple concurrent projects across functional teams. 
  • Proven ability to deliver results using Agile and hybrid methodologies. 


Skills / Knowledge / Attributes 

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills. 
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Jira, or equivalent).
  • Working knowledge of Lean or Six Sigma continuous improvement tools. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building ability with focus on collaboration and problem-solving. 
  • High ethical standards, attention to detail, and professional integrity.
