Location: Jersey (Channel Islands)

Full-time, Onsite position (Relocation & Visa Possible)


Our client is a GMP-accredited cultivator and processor of premium medicinal cannabis based in Jersey, Channel Islands. Operating a state-of-the-art facility, the company specializes in high-quality cannabis flower with ambitious growth and licensing plans underway.


They are looking for a Managing Director to join their team as a strategic leader, onsite at their facility. This position will be responsible for overseeing the company’s strategic growth and driving improvements in financial performance and operational efficiency, while upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance.


Working closely with the Board of Directors, this executive role will be pivotal in bringing the company’s vision to life; unlocking the full potential of the site, inspiring a top-tier team, and positioning the organisation as a world-class leader in medicinal cannabis production.


The ideal candidate will have experience in regulated industries, preferably in legal medicinal cannabis cultivation or pharmaceuticals. A strong understanding of GACP, GMP, and the UK’s regulatory framework on the production and supply for the medical cannabis supply chain is essential.


MUST be onsite in Jersey a minimum of three days per week, ideally relocating for a full-time commitment to the role. Relocation & Visa support available.


MUST have experience in a similar leadership position in regulated industries, particularly in medicinal cannabis cultivation or pharmaceuticals. GMP and GACP cannabis regulatory knowledge is essential.


Key Responsibilities

  • Business Development: Expand sales partnerships, negotiate distribution agreements, and represent the company on industry councils, in the media, and at industry events.
  • Operational Management: Direct the resources of the business across cultivation, production, quality, finance, and sales to ensure the company achieves its objectives and produces a high-quality, consistent product as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Team Leadership: Manage, guide and inspire a small but exceptionally capable team of senior department managers, setting objectives and KPIs. Nurture a culture of excellence, innovation, responsibility and trust.
  • Maximise Site Potential: Oversee the expansion of the existing cleanroom facility to maximise the production capability of the site, increasing production from 1 tonne per annum to 4 tonnes per annum.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full adherence to Jersey and the UK pharmaceutical regulations and standards, including GMP.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary representative for government relations and investors.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential operational, financial, and regulatory risks to protect the company’s long-term interests.


Key Competencies

  • Deep understanding of UK and EU pharmaceutical & medical cannabis regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong negotiation, relationship management and communication skills.
  • Understanding of cannabis cultivation and global cannabis export logistics.
  • Proven ability to lead a high-performing team in a dynamic, nascent industry.


Qualifications

  • Degree in Business, Pharmaceuticals, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5+ years in executive leadership within regulated sectors, preferably medicinal cannabis or pharmaceuticals.
  • Strong track record of regulatory compliance in highly controlled industries.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a GMP-accredited cannabis facility.
  • Experience raising capital, managing investor relations, and driving the successful scaling of startup ventures.


This is a full-time, onsite, permanent position. It will require relocation to Jersey Island. Visa and relocation support is being offered to the sucesssful candidate (if required).
