Director of Operations – US Multi-State (East Coast Preferred)
Full-Time – Hybrid with Travel
Our client is a US-based cannabis company dedicated to cultivating high-quality, compliant, and sustainable cannabis across multiple states. The Director of Operations will oversee and optimize multi-state cultivation operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and best-in-class cannabis production. This role requires a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of commercial-scale cultivation, regulatory compliance, and team development. The ideal candidate will be equally focused on people, culture, and operational excellence, fostering a positive and performance-driven work environment across all sites.
This is a full-time, remote position with travel that will operate on Eastern Standard Time.
MUST be legally able to work in the USA and during Eastern Standard Time business hours.
MUST have previous professional experience in a similar operational leadership position in a rapidly growing, regulated organization.
Legal cannabis industry experience is highly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Implement, build, create, and optimize multi-site cultivation operations, ensuring standardization, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Investigate, audit, and streamline operational processes and systems across facilities, departments, and future facilities.
- Work closely with the CEO and executive leadership to inform strategy, provide SME on operational excellence, and support growth with a strategic foundation.
- Monitor harvest cycles, post-harvest processes, and supply chain logistics to maintain consistent quality and availability of cannabis products.
- Cultivate a people-first leadership approach, fostering a positive and engaging company culture that emphasizes collaboration, employee growth, and accountability.
- Build cross-functional relationships with compliance, processing, R&D, sales, and finance teams to ensure seamless operations across departments.
- Maintain budget oversight and financial accountability, optimizing resource allocation and cost-effective production planning.
- Implement scalable and sustainable operational strategies to support multi-state expansion and future facility launches.
- Implement, assess, and optimize environmental monitoring systems and ERP software to improve data-driven decision-making.
- Travel to various operational sites and industry trade shows as required.
Requirements
- 3+ years in an operations leadership role within the cannabis industry (legal cultivation & manufacturing) or a related field, with proven experience managing multi-state operations.
- Business Degree and a strong background in project management, process optimization, and operational excellence, PMP or Lean Six Sigma certification preferred.
- Must have the ability to work on Eastern Standard Time.
- Understanding of METRC compliance, including tracking, reporting, and maintaining regulatory adherence within the cannabis industry.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal cannabis regulations.
- Experience implementing Seed-to-Sale environmental controls and ERP systems.
- Exceptional communication skills and strong organizational abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a focus on process optimization.
- Hands-on leadership style with a passion for start-up environments, people development, and organizational culture building.
- Ability to travel as needed to support operational needs and attend industry events.
